Fujifilm chooses India for its first medical exam business
Japanese healthcare and imaging solutions company Fujifilm Corp will establish a cancer screening medical center in Bangalore on February 4, the first project of its disease screening business in emerging economies. The facility, called NURA, will meet local demand for the early detection of cancers, including breast and oral cancers, as well as early signs of lung disease and heart attack. The NURA centers will use the company's AI-based medical equipment and diagnostic technology. Fujifilm plans to open 100 similar facilities in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.

Fuji partners with Dr Kutty's Healthcare

The medical screening center will be managed by Fujifilm DKH LLP, a joint venture of Fujifilm and Dr Kutty's Healthcare (DKH), which operates hospitals and screening centers in India and the Middle East. Fujifilm chose India as the first emerging economy to host its medical exam business as the company sees high demand due to the country's large population and rising number of cancer patients. Fujifilm said the NURA centers will perform many of the same assessments that are done during comprehensive physicals. The department will analyze CT scan images or use mammography and technologies to aid in diagnosis. The company plans to roll out mobile clinics that will offer exams in factories and in the suburbs.
