5 of the best smartphones announced at IFA 2019

Now that IFA 2019 is over, we can review all the announcements from one of the largest annual tech events in the world. Some of the new phones have been announced by some of the bigger companies like Samsung, Nokia and Motorola, as well as a folding face that is making a comeback and we first heard about five months ago.

One of the most common themes among IFA 2019 smartphones is that they are all in the cheapest segment of the market. This is not an MWC 2019 (an annual smartphone-centric expo), so we weren't expecting new high-end devices, and these are all types of phones that most people will buy anyway.

We've gone through all the new IFA 2019 smartphone releases to decide which ones you should pay attention to. Here is our final list.

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is one of the first affordable 5G phones. That's not to say it's cheap, but it's certainly more affordable than other 5G phones.

Beyond its connectivity capabilities, the phone has some of the features that make the Samsung Galaxy A a number of true mid-range competitors: a high-quality Super AMOLED display, a powerful 4.500 mAh battery, and an impressive network of 3 48MP sensors.

It is certainly a device to look to the future, especially if you want to participate in the 5G hype without breaking the bank.

Motorola one zoom

The Motorola One series smartphones are an impressive attempt for midsize businesses, and their latest addition is the Motorola One Zoom.

With four cameras (including a telephoto lens, as the name implies), you can probably take great pictures with the camera. This is the main camera, an optical zoom lens, a very wide angle lens, and a depth sensor. You will be able to take photos in different situations.

That's not all, and the One Zoom offers plenty of other features. It seems to be a good brother to the One Vision and One Action, and it shows that the Motorola One series is something to be taken seriously.

Nokia 7.2

HMD Global (the current owners of the Nokia brand) has launched two new phones for IFA 2019. We think the most impressive is the Nokia 7.2, thanks to a significant addition.

It features a 48 MP camera, the first to go past the back of a Nokia phone, and will lift the phone from a "mid-range camera phone" as it is Nokia Devices, to a "serious mid-range competitor." .

The rest of the phone has a mediocre range of specs and stats, including an intriguing display and sleek design, but it's good to see Nokia take its photographic sensibilities more seriously.

Sony Xperia 5

The Sony compact is back. Well, in a way; meet the Sony Xperia 5.

The phone takes the Sony Xperia 1, with similar specifications and design, but if the Xperia 1 was the same size as the Xperia 10 Plus, the Xperia 5 has roughly the same dimensions as the Xperia 10, that is, it is smaller. It's not as compact as Sony's removed compact range, but it's definitely a better size for your pocket.

In LaComparacion, we were big fans of the Xperia 1, so it would be interesting to see its features reduced in the Xperia 5. All its success depends on the price and, at the moment, we do not know what it is.

LG G8X ThinQ

Since LG's smartphones have struggled to attract interest in recent years, the company is trying to find new features to win back the public interest. For now, his favorite project is dual-screen technology.

The LG G8X ThinQ is equipped with a dual display (unlike the base LG G8 ThinQ, but like the LG V50 ThinQ), and so far it is the best use of this technology. In fact, you have the impression that you can get close to a large folding phone without waiting for this new technology to finally be available.

In general, the phone is a mixed bag, because the screen is not the best, and the design can be a bit bulky when you have the file attached to the second screen. But if dual-screen technology is integrated, LG will certainly be at the forefront.

And then there's the rest...

Although the five phones listed above are our highlights of the series, a few others have been announced that might interest you.

The Nokia 6.2 has been released alongside the larger 7.2, with reduced specs and a corresponding price. The Moto E6 Plus, which launched in the shadow of the Motorola One Zoom, is another phone with a friend.

TCL has recorded many successes with a range of Alcatel phones, but the highlight has been the intriguing TCL Plex.

One last notable product is the F (x) tec Pro1. If we had a "worst name" price, it would be a place of choice alongside the new LG smartphone, but it is not a real price.

The Pro1 is a high-end smartphone with a removable keyboard. If you lose this feature on your current device, you should consider the Pro1.
