Prezi Video update targets common video conferencing complaints
Visual communications company Prezi has rolled out a range of new features to its video presentation software to address the issues remote employees are facing during the pandemic. The Prezi Video update builds on the foundation put in place over the past 18 months with additions designed to create a new "user experience," according to the company. For example, it's now easier to switch between display modes to highlight specific information, and Prezi has made it easy to convert Google Slides and PowerPoint Presentations to a video format. There is also a completely new mode that allows users to preview their slides alongside the video conferencing client, which means all the necessary information is displayed on the screen at the same time. And finally, Prezi Video now offers light and dark modes for better readability at different times of the day. New Prezi Video features are available through the Windows and macOS clients, and on the web.

The Prezi Video update was based on a survey of 1,000 hybrid workers, designed to identify the most common pain points in video conferencing, in addition to common customer feedback received during the pandemic. Respondents most frequently requested features that make video conferencing more immersive, tools that integrate with existing workflows, and on-screen branding. Others mentioned the need for features that enable audience engagement and the ability to build any "video-ready" presentation platform. “The consistent feedback we've heard is that the priority in the hybrid office is making it easy for everyone to contribute to video conferences to increase two-way engagement,” said Jim Szafranski, CEO of Prezi. “It's clear that bringing graphics and moving content around the video screen leads to better audience engagement and more ongoing audience engagement through on-screen responses. " In a recent interview with TechRadar Pro, Szafranski revealed that the company is also open to exploring opportunities in areas such as virtual reality, which could offer an alternative way to improve meeting participation. "The office was the big hack for productivity because it forced everyone to be in the same space at the same time. But we won't go back to that," he said. "What has definitely changed is that there will always be someone out of the room, and we're all going to have to figure out how to have effective meetings under these conditions."
