You can get Google Chrome updates much faster in the future

Google has announced that it will soon move to a faster release cycle for Chrome updates, as the company now plans to deliver a new milestone every four weeks. For more than a decade, the search giant has released a new milestone every six weeks in an effort to improve its browser's security, stability, speed, and simplicity. However, as Google improved its test and release processes for Chrome and began rolling out security updates every two weeks to improve its patch gap, the Chrome team realized they could shorten the patch release cycle. and deliver new features even faster. As a result, Google will begin releasing a new milestone every four weeks starting with the release of Chrome 94 in the third quarter of this year.

Stable extended

While consumers will benefit from a faster release schedule, Google's business customers will likely have a harder time updating all their Chrome installations as frequently. For this reason, the search giant plans to add a new extended stability option with milestone updates every eight weeks. Security updates in Extended Sable will be released every two weeks to address important issues, but these updates will not contain any new features or all of the security fixes that the four-week option will receive. When it comes to Chrome OS, Google also plans to support several stable version options, and the company will share additional details with Chrome OS administrators in the coming months.
