Windows 11 updates are coming to make your PC more stable

Insiders on the Microsoft Windows 11 Release Preview channel are getting a new Windows 11 update that focuses on stability rather than new features, according to an official Windows blog post.

A new update for the operating system, called Windows 11 Build 22000.1757 (KB5023774), has been pushed out to those on the release preview channel, consisting of a long list of stability improvements. This channel is considered the most stable of the Insider build channels, so the latest update is focused on bug fixes rather than implementing entirely new features.

Some of the stability improvements include fixes for various program applications, Notepad, Microsoft PowerPoint, Remote Procedure Call service, Windows Search, some printers including USB printers, and even Xbox subscribers. This update seems to cover the whole gamut of affected software and issues, but then again, it's never a bad thing to be thorough.

If you're looking for more radical and experimental changes, Microsoft's new Canary Channel might be for you. Canary recently tested new code that could be the basis for the next version of Windows 12. And Microsoft sent free flash drives to some testers along with what is likely an early version of Windows 12. There have been a lot of rumors and leaks surrounding it. to the new operating system, which was further exacerbated by Intel's accidental leak of the name.

Microsoft also offers hidden updates

Microsoft is publicly and openly making many changes to Windows 11, including introducing completely new features to the operating system and Edge browser. One of these features was the introduction and integration of ChatGTP in the browser, while another will scale low-resolution videos directly in the browser.

Lately, Microsoft has been adding hidden features or making changes to the operating system settings without notifying users in advance. In the 2262x beta, the "Recommend" section of the Start menu was renamed "For You", but details about this were hidden during testing. The Voice Access commands help page has been completely overhauled to be truly functional and presence detection privacy settings have been added, but none of that was included in the preview build notes.

Then there was the recent discovery that Windows was stealthily bugging graphics cards by re-enabling a security feature in a recent OS update, despite users having previously turned it off. This feature is called VBS (Virtualization Based Security) and it can interfere with GPUs, even the RTX 4090, causing a drop in performance and frame rates.
