The Panasonic Lumix GH6 could now be delayed until 2021
The long-awaited Panasonic GH6 has been all but forgotten in all the recent noise about full-frame mirrorless cameras, and it looks like the Micro Four Thirds maestro won't arrive until 2021. According to the fairly reliable 43Rumors, the Panasonic GH6 "won't be arriving anytime soon" , and the launch will "certainly not" take place during the rest of 2020. It's a shame for those who have been patiently waiting for the successor to the excellent Panasonic Lumix GH5, which launched in late 2017. The GH6 will reportedly be launched in May of this year, but the pandemic apparently forced Panasonic to change its plans. This has led to speculation that the centric video camera would be announced in August or September, with shipping beginning in early 2021. But if these latest rumors are true, it looks like even the announcement will be put back on top. next year instead. possibly it will take place at the CP+ fair (from February 25) or later. Still, it's not all bleak for videographers who have been waiting for a new sensor and autofocus system to be added to their favorite little camera. According to 43Rumors, "Panasonic has confirmed that they are developing the GH6" and "it's definitely on the way." That doesn't mean Panasonic has officially announced development of the GH6 yet, but signs promise that it's at least in the works.

So what can we expect from the Panasonic GH6 and why is the GH range still so popular? Much of the recent hype in the camera world is for full-frame cameras, but models with smaller sensors (like Four Thirds chips) still have some much-appreciated benefits. One of them, of course, is that camera housings can be smaller, but that also means they can pack advanced features into smaller packages. The reason the Panasonic GH5 (and GH5S) remain among the best 4K cameras on the market is because they have the ability to shoot 4K/60p video in 4-bit 2:2:10 color, an option it isn't. it is still often only available on other cameras via external recorders. It's not like the GH5 and GH5S are perfect cameras. Both are a bit dated in other ways, so rumors of their successors include better in-body image stabilization (IBIS), longer battery life, and even a 41MP sensor. Panasonic is also rumored to be splitting the lineup into three models instead of two, with a GH6, GH6V and GH6X in development. If that turns out to be the case, the GH6V will likely be the equivalent of the GH5S, with the GH6X more specialized for still photography. Of course, all of this remains speculation for now, but for a more in-depth discussion of what features we might see in the new lineup, check out our release date, specs, and features for the Panasonic GH6.
