On its front there is an oval-shaped control panel with seven buttons, some of which are used to prepare coffee and others to control the volume of the built-in speaker through which Alexa emits her responses. The control panel is surrounded by an LED ring that glows blue when Amazon's voice assistant answers, or red if it's muted. The Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy has a 5W speaker and Wi-Fi connectivity allows not only access to Alexa, but also to connect the coffee machine to the Piacere Lavazza app. Through the app, you can adjust the Mio Voicy Mode settings, order coffee pods, and even get tips on how to make the perfect cup of coffee. Performance

Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy was extremely easy to set up and use. It only took 24 seconds to brew 30ml of espresso with a compatible capsule. The resulting coffee was smooth and rich, with a thick crema that reformed after a teaspoon of sugar was sprinkled over the hot beverage. The coffee registered a temperature of 68 °C as soon as it was dispensed, an acceptable level for this hot drink. By setting the setting to "extra hot" the temperature rose to 72°C on our thermometer. We also made 60ml of lungo espresso in the Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy, which took 31 seconds to dispense the drink. Our decibel meter registered 53 dB when pouring an espresso, making it one of the quietest single-serve coffee machines we've tested – it's the equivalent of moderate rain, and more than acceptable to us. Although this machine did not cause a lot of splashing when pouring drinks, there were drops after the coffee was finished brewing. As for Alexa's smarts, we found that the voice assistant responds when asked a question or to complete a task, like making coffee (although you do have to make sure there's a pod inserted and a cup in place before doing so). . . Alexa was also able to effectively adjust the temperature of the coffee we made, and was also able to provide a weather report and play our favorite Michael Bublé album on Spotify. The removable drip tray, the water tank and the container for used capsules are all dishwasher safe, making the Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy very easy to clean. Unfortunately, this pod coffee machine doesn't include a steam wand, so you'll need to purchase one separately if you want to make coffees made with milk.
