Nintendo's new Switch Lite also suffers from Joy-Con drift and is added to test

Nintendo's Joy-Con controllers for their Switch console are facing increasing criticism over an issue affecting their joysticks, and now this issue appears to be arising on the new Switch Lite as well.

Specifically, several original Switch users reported that even sitting idle, the analog sticks on their Joy-Con controllers registered slight movement in one direction. This problem has been dubbed the Joy-Con drift.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Nintendo in July, and some owners of the new Switch Lite console (released on September 20) joined the cause as they faced the same issue with their newly purchased handheld device.

One of the main issues with the persistent problem on the Switch Lite is the fact that it has no removable controllers and the freedom it offers, so instead of just replacing the Joy-Con units (again a cheap one), the entire Console will need to be repaired or replaced if it has a shaded joystick.

A repair?

At the time the lawsuit started, Nintendo's official policy in this area required users to send in their faulty controller, wait several months, and pay a large sum to repair and return it.

However, shortly after testing, it was discovered that Nintendo would replace its Joy-Con for free if it encountered this problem and would reimburse those who had already paid for the service (in the US at least), even for external consoles. of the warranty period.

It should be noted that these details were only discovered through a leak of the company's internal communications. Nintendo does not have an official statement on this program. Therefore, it is helpful to contact your local customer service representative for the situation in your area. .

Nintendo has yet to comment on the Joy-Con drift issues found on the Switch Lite. If you live in the United States and have been affected, you can join the class action lawsuit.
