Philips presents the OLED807 TV and it could be one of the best we see in 2022

Philips has just unveiled its 2022 TV lineup, including what it crowns as the "new king" of TVs: the Philips OLED807.

We already loved last year's OLED806, giving it a five-star review, so we're delighted to learn that Philips has upped its game this year by introducing a number of updates for its successor.

The first is the OLED807's new OLED EX panels. These new screens offer a 30 per cent increase in light output compared to regular OLED screens, so we can expect even better color and HDR performance than we've seen before - and that was already pretty spectacular.

Additionally, Philips is enhancing its Ambilight system with greater detail and color accuracy. The unique feature lights up the wall behind the screen that matches what's on display, which, oddly enough, creates a more immersive experience.

Sound performance is also improved, upgrading the OLED50's 806W sound system to a 70W configuration. While we hope it won't compete with the audio quality of the best sound bars, the OLED807 should sound more than good for If only.

We'll have to test the OLED807 for ourselves to be sure, but one factor that makes us believe it will live up to the hype is its IMAX Enhanced certification. This seal of approval means that the OLED807 TV offers the best visual and audio performance in its class, making it the best choice for those looking to enjoy IMAX Enhanced content such as MCU movies on Disney Plus.

The price of the OLED807 is not yet available; however, we think it will cost about the same as the OLED806 at launch (perhaps a bit more). For the smaller 48-inch size we should expect a price of around €1,299, while for the larger 77-inch size we're closer to €3,999.

We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we know more.

If you prefer to use your TV for gaming rather than movies or TV, the Philips OLED807 is still a great option. Not only will it create an impressive image, but it has several features that make it ideal for gaming.

As you'd expect from the best gaming TVs, this display offers a maximum VRR of 120Hz at 4K, making it an ideal companion for your Xbox Series X or PS5, but there are other benefits to enjoy as well.

PC gamers can take advantage of Nvidia G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync, while Auto Game and Auto-Low-Latency modes automatically configure your TV's settings to ensure you get the best performance possible.

Thanks to these improvements, the OLED807 can achieve input lag as low as 9ms, so you should expect a great TV overall, though we'll have to test it for ourselves to see how amazing it is.
