Mycle Compact folding electric bike review

Mycle Compact folding electric bike review

Thirty second exam

A smaller and lighter version of Mycle's Climber and Classic bikes, the Mycle Compact Electric Folding Bike is a powerful and simple to fold commuter bike. It gives you the option of two packs of batteries, allowing you to travel 2km or 250km on a single charge (a modest but reasonable range for a bike in your price range), and its 36w XNUMXv brushless electric motor means you won' Don't be left behind when you go up those hills. It is light and easy to fold to store, which makes it recommended for traveling on public transport and storing it in small apartments.

Pedal Assist gives you an auxiliary boost for your ride and is activated quickly with the push of a button. However, it is going to be quite difficult to take longer trips due to the bike's small frame and lack of suspension.

However, we appreciate the ability to give the Mycle Compact a personal touch through customizable paint. You can go for a solid black bike or mix and match colors like copper and cream on its leather saddle and green or yellow on its frame. It is not going to be the final factor when choosing a new electric bike, but it is a welcome addition.

Price and launch date

The Mycle Compact launched in mid-two thousand twenty-one and starts at € seven hundred and ninety-nine (about € one zero / AU € one five hundred). It's accessible for any electric bike, let alone a folding bike, and explains its limited range.

For context, our current top-rated folding electric bike, the MiRider One, starts at € one three hundred and ninety-five (about € two zero / AU € two five hundred and can keep riding for up to forty miles (twice the range) maximum of the Mycle Compact).

Integrated

The Mycle compact electric folding bike is well developed not only for commuting but also for storage. With a lower and smaller frame than the Climber or Classic, and weighing in at just XNUMXkg (about the same as the MiRider One), it has a unique and compelling look. The adjustable leather saddle also easily slides out and houses the battery so it's hidden out of sight.

The paint on the bike is customizable, with 3 color options for the leather saddle and 5 for the aluminum frame. The green frame and coppery leather seat we tested give it a 'XNUMXs look and ensure it gets plenty of attention on the road. The handlebars and tires can also be customized, with the option of choosing between black or earthy walnut copper.

The small tires, measuring just twenty inches, let the bike fold into an impressively small bundle. However (as is often the case with many folding bikes) they struggled with rougher terrain.

Mycle claims that the Compact can be folded in just ten seconds, and it's true. The moment the saddle is removed, it is simple to unlock and steer into place, while the handlebar is also easy to fold. The battery can then be recharged by sea whenever you store it.

The LCD screen on the right handlebar gives you key driving statistics, including speed and distance, and there is a USB socket that can charge your phone while riding, making it easy to use for navigation without draining the battery. We also liked the incorporation of lights (which also work with the bike's battery), which make driving safer in bad or bad weather.

Performance

The Mycle Compact is fully built and ready to ride right out of the box. We just charged its battery for a few hours and we were good to go. The Be battery can be charged while it is still on the bike's seat post, or it can be removed if you find it more advisable.

Like each and every road approved electric bike in the UK and the European Union, the Mycle Compact's motor can only be activated while you are pedaling. If you want a good workout (or save battery power), you can ride this bike like a manual model, shifting gears as you hit hills.

However, with the push of a button, its pedal assist is activated. With 5 levels, you can change from a quick face-up push on a slight incline to climbing the steepest hills with just a few turns of the pedals. The bike has an acceptable motor, and this helped us reduce our short travel time by 5 minutes, compared to a normal bike. However, he fought over rough terrain.

Since the tires are smaller and thinner than other e-bikes, and the frame doesn't have a suspension fork, you feel every rock or bump as it passes over it, so it's best to keep up with it. paved roads if possible. We also advise you to watch your pedaling assistance level: 5 is ideal for climbing steep hills, but be sure to lower the level for a flat road, as you will accelerate at a considerably faster pace.

The bike is very stable while you ride, with the frame, pedals and tires giving you a safe and enjoyable ride. The saddle is not only comfortable, but rather simple to adjust and is developed for a variety of heights, and the pedals, sturdy in use, fold it down for better storage. However, be sure to trim everything safely; On our first ride we made the mistake of not securing the handlebars well in place and they fell apart the moment we left.

We found that the battery in our review bike was still running between fifteen and fifteen miles in general use, and the LCD screen alerted us when it was low. Generally speaking, the Mycle Compact is a huge bike for shorter trips, helping you cut down on commute time and get to work feeling refreshed.
