The future of smartphone technology

The future of smartphone technology
Technological innovations for smartphones have taken the world by storm. From Apple AirPods to wireless charging stations – the possibilities are seemingly endless. A new era of progress is ushering in that will take smartphone technologies to a whole new level. Consumers may think they have seen it all when it comes to these developments. In reality, what is available on the market is just the beginning of a new era. Several industry players exceed our expectations to remain competitive. While Apple seemingly dominates smartphone technology advancements, some key players are giving them value for money.

Color changing glass panel

Tech company Vivo is rumored to be working on a new smartphone that has a color-changing glass panel on the back. The device will be equipped with an electrochromic glass panel that can change color at the push of a button. While electrochromic glass itself isn't a new invention, Vivo will be the first to introduce color-changing capabilities, if the rumors are true. Glass is used in hotels, airplanes, and other areas where it is changed electronically.

Move around the headphone capsules

(Image credit: Microsoft) Headphones have established themselves as a must-have, even if they're not a necessity. What is attractive is the case they come in and how they function as a charging case. Xiaomi is said to have applied for two patents that will shape the future of earphones. Instead of coming in a special case, the headphones will be embedded in special locations on the smartphone itself. Now you won't have to kick yourself if you leave your headphones on while you go to the gym because they will always be with you. The concept is similarly based on a stylus, but it will also act as speakers when inserted into their respective slots at the top of the phone.

Under-screen selfie camera

(Image credit: ZTE) ZTE Axon 20 5G is the first phone to launch an under-display selfie camera. ZTE used high-transparency materials including organic and inorganic films, "thus improving light delivery to the front camera." The selfie camera will be 32-megapixel and the phone is currently available to order in China, but there is no word on whether it will be available to the rest of the world.

LiFi: 100 times faster than WiFi

LiFi is a mobile wireless technology that uses light to transmit data instead of radio frequencies. Tech company Oppo plans to make its smartphones LiFi compatible, which will catapult your phone's connectivity capabilities. LiFi can run 100 times faster than normal WiFi data speeds. LiFi even works with a light that appears to be off to the naked eye.
