Here's why your phone may not get all the best features of Android 11

With Android 11 slowly coming out, it's worth remembering that not every feature Google adds to its mobile operating system is built into every phone, and each manufacturer takes a slightly different approach. As XDA Developers reports, Google is making recommendations for Android features that are essential for third-party phone makers and only optional, and an early version of those recommendations for Android 11 has just leaked. There are three key features that manufacturers shouldn't include in their own version of Android 11. The first is the selection of smart home controls that appear when you long press the power button, allowing you to quickly turn off your smart lights or other stuff. Phone makers other than Google won't have to include it, though they can choose to. Alternatively, they could decide to implement their own version of the functionality, with some additional bells and whistles or a different interface.

play by the rules

The second optional feature is grouping conversations in the notifications rollout: By default, Android 11 will keep alerts from email apps separate from other notifications, but this approach won't be required for everyone. The likes of Samsung, Sony, LG, Xiaomi, and others often tinker with how notifications work in their own versions of Android, so it's perhaps not surprising that this feature falls under the optional category. Finally, the last feature that won't be essential is the new feature to store identity documents in a secure locker on your phone: Google wants to let you store documents like your driver's license in a locked place. of your phone, but other manufacturers won't have to do the same. These recommendations may change before the full release of Android 11, but that's something to keep in mind. If manufacturers want to keep Google apps and services on their phones, they have to follow these rules, but it seems like all three are optional.
