EE 5G Launches in Six New Cities - Now Can You Benefit from 5G Coverage?

EE has expanded its 5G network in the UK, bringing the next generation of mobile connectivity to six new cities. The lucky cities are Hull, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Sunderland, bringing the company's 5G coverage to a total of 50 cities in the UK. There has also been a push for 5G in some high traffic locations such as London Euston Station, Cardiff Central Station, Glasgow ' s Bath Street and Belfast' s Kingspan Stadium, which should see improved network performance when there are many people using all their phones at the same time, in one place. EE says its goal is to have 5G in over 70 cities by March 2020, but it should be noted that it's unlikely to see town/city-scale 5G coverage from day one. These deployments tend to provide 5G to hubs first, then over time coverage will expand to cover the entire site. It's worth using the EE coverage checker to see if you're already covered by 5G.

5G becomes more accessible

The first 5G cities were reactivated in May 2019, and rollout to new areas has been steady ever since, but many people across the country are still outside of a 5G area. This latest update from EE, as well as the continued efforts by themselves, Vodafone and O2 to roll out their 5G networks in more regions, is good news for you, the consumer. We expect to see a number of new 5G phones launch in 2020, with prices likely to drop, making 5G devices and connectivity super-fast, more accessible to more people. So far EE 5G cities are: London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Belfast, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, Coventry, Leicester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Sunderland, Wakefield and Wolverhampton. And the cities with EE 5G are: Ashton-under-Lyne, Castlereagh, Chatham, Clifton, Dudley, Gillingham, Greys, Guildford, Hamilton, Harlow, Hoddesdon, Huddersfield, Kimberley, Kingston-upon-Thames, Lichfield, Lisburn, Maidstone , Milnrow, Northampton, Oldham, Potters Bar, Rochdale, Romford, Salford, Solihull, Stevenage, Sutton Coldfield, Sydenham, Walsall, Watford and West Bromwich.
