Dropbox Spaces seeks to tidy up your desktop

Dropbox unveiled its vision for the smart workspace when it launched Dropbox Spaces at the first ever Work in Progress User Conference.

The company views the smart workspace as a digital environment that brings together all of a team's content along with their favorite tools to help users overcome clutter and focus on what really matters.

Dropbox Spaces is part of the new Dropbox, which was announced earlier this year, and the new feature is an evolution of the shared folder into a collaborative team workspace. Dropbox has also used its artificial intelligence platform, DBXi, to add new features to its service.

Drew Houston, President and CEO of Dropbox, explained how Dropbox Spaces was designed to eliminate clutter and distractions and allow teams to focus more on the task at hand in a blog post:

"We are building the smart workspace because we need technology that helps us reduce noise rather than contribute to it." It starts with the launch of Dropbox Spaces, which brings your most important content and tools together in one organized place, so you can focus and stay in tune with your team. "

New Dropbox desktop app

At the user conference, Dropbox announced that its new desktop app, previously available for early access, is now available in all areas and will roll out to users today. The new app includes several new features, including file previews, Paper's integration into the Dropbox file system, and the ability to search through preview descriptions.

The company even makes it easy for users to search for images using artificial intelligence to allow them to search for images by searching the content of the image. Dropbox Professional users will be able to use this new feature first, but it is also in development for Dropbox Business.

Dropbox has also announced a new "For You" tab in the Windows system tray and macOS menu bar, providing users with personalized suggestions including attachments, meeting note templates, Team Activities, files and folders. Like the new business image search feature, the tab uses machine learning and will get smarter over time as users interact more with each other. .

Dropbox Business admins will also receive a number of new updates, including greater visibility of teams, members, and their activity through the business console.

Finally, Dropbox announced a strategic partnership and a € 5 million investment in BetterCloud to provide Dropbox teams with advanced data protection and orchestration capabilities.
