Because the task was made mandatory for many by the ongoing pandemic, a decent hard-edge router has never been more important, especially since ISP offerings often deliver notoriously poor performance.
Router Wi-Fi 6 Xiaomi AX1800 - € 65.99 de Gearbest
(€ 56.37 / AU € 106.75)
This Xiaomi Wi-Fi 6 router is astronomically cheap compared to the competition. In fact, it's even cheaper than most Wi-Fi 5 equivalents. Four independent signal boosters, support for mesh networks, and gorgeous aesthetics are the icing on the cake. Enter the Xiaomi AX1800 router, the most affordable Wi-Fi 6 router currently. Gearbest sells it for an incredibly low price of €65.99 (£56.37 / AU$106.75) using a €2 coupon, which is less than the cost of most Wi-Fi 5 (AKA 802.11ac) models. This 802.11ax Mi Router is powered by two processors; the first is the Qualcomm IPQ6000 with quad cores and the second a dedicated NPU with a 1.5GHz core. It also comes with four GbE ports, supports mesh networking, and can connect to up to 128 devices simultaneously. The AX1800 has four independent signal amplifiers and is compatible with ODFMA technology for more efficient transmission. As expected, it runs the MiWiFi operating system (based on OpenWRT), which can be managed through the router's web management interface. The funky pillar-shaped device comes with a user manual, an Ethernet cable, and a power supply. If you're looking for something even cheaper, there's the Xiaomi Redmi AC2100 Gigabit Router, which costs just $45.50 (£37.86 / AU$71.58). Note that Xiaomi probably used Chinese in the back-end for the two routers, so you may need to break Google Translate.
