Your next VR game could be based on Bridgerton, but is it ever going to happen?

Dear readers, it has come to our attention that Netflix has made its boldest VR announcement yet, claiming that it now has the rights to make VR games and titles based on Bridgerton. The statement was made as part of a recently announced deal with series producer Shonda Rhimes. The expanded “Creative Pact” between Netflix and Rhimes' company Shondaland Media is multifaceted. For Bridgerton fans, that means the new content will be delivered exclusively via Netflix, including 3 ancillary seasons of the series (Season XNUMX will begin in XNUMX), as a spin-off story that expands on Queen Charlotte's origins. We could also see the so-called 'Bridgerton-verse' expand to other formats, such as films and 'potential game and virtual reality content'. There is also a pact to generate live events and experiences. However, this new pact between Shondaland Media and Netflix goes beyond Bridgerton. It includes a commitment to create new "DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility) programs that can increase workplace representation of industry or underrepresented groups both nationally and in the United Kingdom." What that means in concrete terms will reportedly be revealed at a later date, but hopefully the deal will lead to more diverse talent both on and off screen in Netflix productions.

What would a Bridgerton VR game look like?

Before we start theorizing, we must take into account that, although Netflix can make a Bridgerton VR game, that does not mean that it will. Since a patent does not guarantee that a technology is on the way, this deal is exactly the same. As Netflix explores virtual reality and gaming content, we'll likely see more of this type of deal, leaving the door open for Netflix to use properties in a variety of different media if it so chooses. However, it remains to be seen whether or not this clause will be favored. However, if we accept that Netflix will make a virtual reality game, what way would it be? We're not convinced it's anything too substantial and it certainly won't take the form of something like Beat Saber or Vacation Simulator, but we do have some ideas. Following Netflix's Black Mirror: Bandersnatch experience, it could be a pick-your-own adventure game where you have to track down your ideal suitor and fight your way through the complicated maze of high society. Alternatively, the VR “game” could be more of an experience, like the live events Netflix has planned. You could be a guest at a celebration, able to watch the latest drama unfold around you. There may be times to dance or interact with a strange character, but you probably have little control (if any) over the narrative that unfolds. Netflix could also go for something completely different, but we think these two ideas are the most likely. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to find out what the Bridgerton VR game turns out to be, if and when it does get made. The best Netflix deals right now
