Almost all new laptops, phones, appliances, and other electronics will be covered by a manufacturer's warranty, but this only covers defective products. If you are in an accident or your product is stolen, you can file a claim with your homeowners insurance, but you will have to pay an excess and your premium will be affected next year if you file a claim. That is where Argos Care comes into play...
What is Argos Care and how much does it cost?
Argos Care (provided by Domestics and General) is not a single policy - there are different options offering different levels of coverage. We have explained here the most suitable plans for appliances, computers, telephones and gadgets, but there is also an option dedicated to jewelry and watches, and an option for furniture.
The cost of Argos Care varies by product type, price, and manufacturer's warranty. Domestic and General has provided a comparison tool so that you can compare it to other providers.
Held down? You don't have to decide right away - you have a generous 45-day allowance to decide whether to add Argos Care to your order. If you decide to add it later, visit an Argos store with your receipt and your products will be covered from that day on.

Argos monthly care
The Argos Monthly Care policy is only available in stores, but if you post your Black Friday deals online, you can still request them by sending your order confirmation to customer service. It is paid by direct debit, so please have your bank details handy.
Argos Monthly Care covers accidental damage (which applies immediately so you're even covered if you drop your laptop at the store point of sale), failure coverage when the manufacturer's warranty expires, and unlimited repairs. Their products are covered all over the world, so you can take them on vacation without worry.
If your product is completely broken and cannot be repaired, Argos will either replace it identically with a new item or give you a coupon for the same value.
If you bought a phone, you will be covered in case of robbery (assault) or theft, but if you have found a good plan for a premium laptop, it would be wise to add it to your computer. at home, or invest in a dedicated device insurance policy in the event of theft. If your phone costs more than € 150, there will be an excess if you make a claim.
Argos Troubleshooting
Argos Breakdown Care comes in handy if you've found a good plan for a device like a washer, dryer, refrigerator, or dishwasher on Black Friday. Covers accidental damage and breakdown after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Domestic and general will send an engineer as soon as possible so that you do not end up without an indispensable device. You get unlimited repairs and the coverage is global.
If it cannot be corrected, Argos will either replace it with a new device or issue many coupons of the same value.
Argos Breakdown Care does not cover loss, theft, cosmetic damage (so no scratches or scrapes), or deliberate damage. It does not cover setting up your Black Friday business or removing your old devices.

Argos Alternative Care
As the name implies, Argos Replacement Care does not cover repairs, but only replacements if your Black Friday purchase unexpectedly fails. The product will be replaced immediately in the same way, so you will not be embarrassed.
You are covered immediately for accidental breakdowns and once the manufacturer's warranty is complete. You will not be covered for loss, theft, negligence, deliberate or cosmetic damage, accessories not provided with the product, or failures covered by other insurance policies.
So, should you get Argos Care on Black Friday?
The answer depends largely on your degree of risk aversion, but there are good reasons to take that into account, even if it will add a little more to the total cost.
Argos Monthly Care could be a smart investment for phones and computers (especially laptops) that are particularly vulnerable to accidental damage. Take advantage of the insurance comparison tools beforehand and verify that you do not have adequate insurance yet. Some checking accounts include, for example, mobile phone insurance.
If you're shopping for a major appliance, Argos Breakdown Care may be the right decision, but again, check with other insurers before you begin. You may also find that there is additional insurance available from the manufacturer, which could be cheaper in the long run.
Don't forget that you have 45 days to decide, so you don't have to rush to make a decision on the best Black Friday sales.
