Now you can shout movie quotes on your Roku streaming key to find movies

Good news for everyone, or at least everyone with a Roku streaming device. Roku's line of HD and 4K streamers finally support voice commands via Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants in the UK, with smart new voice functionality around the world. While some streaming devices already have built-in voice capability, such as Alexa on the Amazon Fire TV Stick, this is the first time Roku's streaming devices in the UK have supported voice assistants. Voice support comes from the Roku OS 9.3 firmware update, rolling out to Roku devices worldwide in April, allowing you to switch playback, turn your TV on and off, and to switch HDMI inputs without even pressing a button. The update also adds a new layout and navigation bar to the Roku mobile app. But the coolest part is Roku's fun voice search feature, which lets you cite your favorite movies and watch as the Roku operating system finds the title that's right for you among its many supported apps and services.

Shaken not moved? Have some Bond movies. Luke, am I your father? Check out the Star Wars movies on Disney Plus. We weren't able to pinpoint the exact scope of the quoting feature: Roku tells us that this feature uses a database of movie dialogue tied to specific (and likely well-known) titles, rather than scanning the script or subtitles for each movie. and a TV show on the platform (which would be a much bigger task). So try not to be disappointed if Alexa doesn't find every dark indie movie you can quote from start to finish. Please note that these streamers are only compatible with Works with Alexa '' y Works with Google Assistant,'' so you can control Roku OS with a good Alexa or Google Assistant smart speaker, like the Amazon Echo or Google Home, but Roku remotes won't start shipping with built-in microphones just yet.
