Joining a Meet video meeting is now easier than ever with a new feature that will allow users to join directly from Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides.

The Google Workspace update allows users to join a video conference call with just one click, which means no need to search for an email or calendar invite.

In the future, Google Docs users will see a new icon next to the "Share" button, allowing them to join a Meet video meeting directly from their document.

The new taskbar will contain a complete list of all the video calls and meetings a user has scheduled, including dates and times, with the button to join once the meeting is active.

As mentioned, it will be present not only in Google Docs, but also in Sheets and Slides, giving users multiple ways to join.

Google says this new approach will also allow users to have the content they're working on open and in view during a call, rather than having to juggle multiple applications or browser windows.

The tool was first announced last month, but is now rolling out to all Google Workspace customers, as well as former G Suite Basic and Business users. It will be enabled by default, and users will start seeing changes immediately.

"To help teams perform their best in the world of hybrid work, as many of us embark on a return to the office, we continue to make improvements to Google Meet to ensure video conferencing is inclusive and collaborative, regardless of location. . or device preference,” reads the Google Workspace Update blog post.

"We hope this feature makes it easy for everyone in the meeting to collaborate in real time while having a conversation, all from the same tab."

Google Meet is also expected to get a new picture-in-picture mode soon, which will allow Chrome users to display a floating meeting window that sits on top of other browser tabs.
