YouTube Music now has a widget for your home screen, allowing you to move forward or backward through a playlist, play and pause music, and give the current track a boost up or down.
In fact, the new widget is identical to the larger Google Play Music widget. If you expected to see the video played on your screen, there is bad news. you only get a small still image.
It's unfortunate that the widget is so boring and that there is only one layout available (versus three for Google Play Music). Hopefully, more options will be available in the coming months as YouTube Music increasingly becomes the default player for Android.
To get the YouTube Music widget, first make sure you have the latest version of the app by visiting its page in the Google Play Store and looking for the "Update" button (since it has been pointed out by XDA Developers, you will need version 3.39 or later). ).
Once you have the latest version available, return to your phone's home screen, press and hold on any blank space, select "Widgets," and scroll down until you find the YouTube music option. Then just drag the widget to your home screen. You can long press the widget to move or remove it.
