You can buy the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X today, if you have the money

When AMD announced the Threadripper 3990X at CES 2020, we were blown away by the amount of performance promised – performance that put it out of reach for most people, but was incredible nonetheless. And now it's finally out. Starting today, you can buy the monster processor at the Micro Center or Newegg in the US, as well as a bunch of pre-built PCs like Origin PC and Maingear. If you want to get your hands on this gigantic piece of silicon, you're looking at a price of €3,990 (£3,699, AU$6,499). Obviously, with a price like this, even the best gaming PCs probably won't spin a chip like this. Instead, AMD is specifically targeting 3D designers and movie studios with the Threadripper 3990X. While we haven't looked at the processor, we've seen leaks showing the 3990X Threadripper crushing two Intel Xeon Platinum 8280s, a configuration that's exponentially more expensive than the 3990X, no matter how expensive the HEDT star prices. ; AMD. is. So if you're one of the few people who can use a processor of this caliber and have the budget for it, you might want to jump on that processor. After all, when you're a creative professional, you save time and money, and the $3,990 (£3,699, AU$6,499) price tag may well be worth it.
