Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 coming soon, confirms CEO

Since becoming a sub-brand under Xiaomi's umbrella earlier this year, Redmi has brought some interesting and value for money options to the smartphone market. In India, the latest Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 series is selling like hotcakes, currently registering more than 5 million shipments.

Today, Lu Weibing, CEO of Redmi, hinted that the company is working on the Redmi Note 8 and that it will be "much stronger" than the competition. Previously, rumors about the possible launch of the Redmi Note 7 successor in August were legion, and Weibing's comment only adds more fuel.

The Redmi Note 7 series was announced in February this year and has become a popular mid-range smartphone in India. With its successor on hold, we've seen a lot of improvements in camera and processor performance. But there is no information about these features yet.

Xiaomi recently announced that it would be bringing a Redmi smartphone powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G90T gaming chipset. Furthermore, we also know that the company is developing a smartphone with a 64MP camera sensor which should be unveiled later this week. However, it is still too early to say that we will have the Redmi Note 8 this month.

Also, a true sworn enemy of Xiaomi in India, Realme will also unveil its 64MP camera tech on August 8. Whether it will make a difference in the mobile photography space remains to be seen.
