Wonder Woman 1984 release date delayed

Wonder Woman 1984 release date delayed

Update: We've edited this story to reflect that Warner Bros. has confirmed the delay at another outlet. Wonder Woman 1984 will be delayed again. The film was officially scheduled to open on October 2, but the Wall Street Journal reported that the film's date was pushed back. Variety later confirmed that the release date had been moved to December 25. This follows an earlier report from Deadline, which suggested that the DC Comics superhero movie and the new Dune movie may face delays as the US movie market continues to rebound. Tenet's The New Mutants and Christopher Nolan are among the only major new releases you can see on the big screen right now, and parts of the US market just aren't open yet due to the pandemic, like New York City. This made the return of the highest grossing movies difficult to understand. Tenet made what appear to be decent box office returns, grossing €150 million globally last weekend. Throughout 2020, movies have been delayed due to the closure of theaters around the world. Some, like Fast and Furious 9, were simply pushed back to 2021, while others were pushed back until closer to the end of the year.

Watch the latest trailer for Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984 made her last major appearance at DC's FanDome event, where the film's final trailer was released. You're likely to see this sneak peek if you're going to watch Tenet now, and notably, there was no release date mentioned at the end: Set in the '80s, the movie will see the return of Gal Gadot as Diana of Themiscyra, opposite Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. The villains of the film this time around are Maxwell Lord, played by Pedro Pascal, and Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig. I hope you can take advantage of it soon enough.
