In an effort to help websites built with its website builder stand out more online, Wix has created its own custom digital typeface called Wix MadeFor. The new typeface was designed in collaboration with the company's in-house studio and type foundry Dalton Maag. MadeFor will replace the legacy Wix typeface to bring the design-focused company identity to the forefront of its products and services. Wix's vice president of design and branding, Hagit Kaufman, explained why the company decided to create its own typeface in a press release: "At Wix, we're very proud of our in-house, multi-disciplinary design studio, and we've noticed that at the brand was missing an essential design element, a custom and easily recognizable font. We decided to create a custom font that would be recognizable and represent our brand values. Above all, the font needed to work well online, retain its character when scaled to large screens, and ensure legibility of user interfaces and large text. And of course, it had to be beautiful! We think we created exactly that with MadeFor. "

During the design process, Wix and Dalton Maag came up with five initial design concepts, each exploring a slightly different direction. This process allowed Wix to clarify typographic proportions and identify the features that best reflected its tone, voice, and core values. MadeFor was then refined and modified to ensure adaptability to a variety of display environments. The character set also supports many different languages, allowing Wix to speak to its global customers with a unified voice. The final MadeFor font includes three display weights and three text weights, with each style available in Standard, Bold, and Extra Bold, along with the corresponding italic style. According to Wix, the font balances modernity and tradition, giving their brand a fresh tone of voice that will stand the test of time. Dalton Maag font developer Matt Burvill explained why MadeFor really felt like it was made for everyone, saying: “The collaborative nature of the project allowed us to narrow down exactly what the Wix design team needed and resulted in a compact typography toolkit with a subtle yet unique personality. The project benefited from the momentum between Dalton Maag and Wix. The mix of departments, backgrounds, cultures, and gender allowed for balanced feedback and resulted in a font that truly feels like it was made for everyone. "
