Why not store Halo Infinite on a Halo-themed hard drive, huh?
Master Chief fans, it's time to start smiling from ear to ear as Seagate has announced a special edition Halo Infinite-themed HDD game player designed for Xbox consoles. Decked out with the Chief's Mjolnir power armor plates (if they were plastic, that is), this external hard drive will store all your Xbox games and keep Cortana happy. In addition to the Halo Infinite SE Drive, Seagate announced a few other gaming-focused storage systems: Game Drive and Game Drive Hub. All of the new drives are designed for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, but they will likely work with other consoles and PCs as well. Seagate has also made sure there's an easy installation process on the Xbox operating system that takes less than two minutes to complete, so you'll have more time to look at the multicolored LEDs on each new drive in storage. New registrations are available this month. The Game Drive comes in 2TB (€92.49 / €74.99) and 4TB (€124.99 / €104.99) capacities, the Halo Infinite SE version comes in 2TB (€99.99 / €79.99) and 5TB (€169.99 / €129.99) capacities ) (Halo fans, you'll be paying a bit more for the main armor skin compared to the regular 2TB game player), and the Game Drive Hub only has a capacity of 8TB ($219.99 / $184.99). That extra expense also adds two front-facing high-speed USB-C and USB-A ports.

Opinion: storage difficulties

The drives will be great for saving Xbox One and other backwards-compatible games, but you can also keep your Series X/S games on the hard drive and transfer the games to the console's internal SSD when you're ready to play them. . But you won't see the benefits of faster SSD-like load times for anything playing from HDD storage on Game Drives. This leads to the question of when Xbox and Seagate will finally start releasing more storage options for the Series X/S expandable SSD card, which currently only has a 1TB capacity. The third-party and proprietary Xbox Series X/S is quite large, with games like Call of Duty Warzone topping out at 100GB, and even Halo Infinite expected to hit 97GB. And with the Xbox Series X having 802GB of usable storage out of the box and the Xbox Series S coming in at a meager 364GB, storage space will start to run short on the Series X/S (especially with the Series S). What also doesn't help is that the Xbox doesn't have decompression technology similar to the PS5's Kraken to help alleviate the storage problem. This means that the PS5 can have smaller versions of the same game compared to the Xbox. For example, the Control Ultimate Edition is 42,5GB on the Xbox Series X/S and just 25,79GB on the PS5. Therefore, the only solution to alleviate this growing storage problem on Xbox is to have more storage capacity options through the official Xbox Expansion Card (currently only available in 1TB format), which PlayStation currently allows. you can expand your PS5 with up to a 2TB M4 SSD, and more as larger M2 SSDs compatible with the system will be released in the future. Seagate's new drives can help with game storage, but there's still a hurdle to jump when it comes to playing next-gen Xbox titles on anything other than the internal SSD or official expansion card.
