The White House expects Russian cyberattacks to hit the US.

The White House hopes that Russia will retaliate against the harsh sanctions imposed on the nation for its invasion of Ukraine through cyberattacks.

In an official statement, President Joe Biden claimed that government agencies had "evolving intelligence" that the Russian government was "exploring options for possible cyberattacks" against the US.

"It's a part of the Russian playbook," President Biden added.

Although he did not detail which organizations Russian cyberattackers might target, the president said that if it were to happen, it would happen against critical infrastructure endpoints.

"If you haven't already done so, I urge our private partners to immediately strengthen your cyber defenses by implementing the best practices we've developed together over the past year," Biden said.

“You have the power, the ability, and the responsibility to strengthen the cybersecurity and resiliency of critical services and technologies that Americans rely on. We need everyone to do their part to address one of the defining threats of our time: your vigilance and emergency today can prevent or mitigate the attacks of tomorrow.
