Seasonal Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals often include many devices, which are often discounted by the device manufacturers themselves. But one of the biggest names in phones, Apple, is rarely generous with its discounts this time of year. So we've put together an iPhone guide you should be looking for on Black Friday for the best savings.
We'll also clarify which iPhones won't see big discounts. Don't expect to see significant price drops on the newer iPhone 13 models, especially from Apple itself, which rarely participates in the sale seasons. If there are little Black Friday deals on the latest iPhones, they will come from online retailers or carriers.
But to make room for new phones, expect to see Black Friday iPhone deals on older models and last year's flagships. Considering the small amount of changes to the iPhone 12 line, we always recommend them as alternatives if the newer Apple phones are out of your budget.
This also applies to the iPhone 11, although they do not have MagSafe or the clean and flat design of the new iPhones, they are still of good quality, with ultra-wide cameras and improved night shots compared to their predecessors.
That leaves the iPhone XS, iPhone X, and iPhone XR, all of which are still respectable given their full-screen designs and updates to iOS 15. If you want to stick with the iPhone 8 or iPhone SE and its Touch ID home button, there's also there will be many offers on these phones.

Black Friday iPhone 13 Deals: What to Expect
As noted above, we don't expect the iPhone 13 line to be heavily discounted during the Black Friday season at all. Considering the phones released in September, we expect Apple to keep them priced higher.
That said, some online retailers may offer small discounts on the iPhone 13 line; we would expect a 5% to 10% discount on list prices. Given that the cheapest model in the lineup, the iPhone 13 mini, starts at € 699 / € 679 / AU € 1,199, one would expect a 5% reduction to result in a reduction of around € 35 / € 26 / AU € 48. It's better than nothing, but you wouldn't expect much more on Black Friday.
Carriers are another story and regularly adopt the seasons of the offers. They can increase their trade-in offers with somewhat higher discounts compared to Black Friday, and we expect them to peak on the day and on Cyber Monday, but they likely explain their reasons. the effective dates of the offers, so expect to be well informed of what they offer.
Keep in mind that these discounts can be combined with price drops when exchanging an old phone, so take note of the sales terms that add up to get the best price.

This is where the deals really come into play. When Apple launched the iPhone 13 lineup in September, it immediately slashed the iPhone 12 lineup by € 100 / € 120 / AU € 150, and we expect prices to drop even further on Black Friday. Not on Apple's website, of course, but retailers and carriers can offer their own discounts.
These Black Friday iPhone 12 deals are expected to be more substantial than Apple's latest phones. We don't expect them to be as discounted as the flagship Androids on Black Friday, but it should be a much-needed price drop, especially for those trying to choose between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13. iPhone 12.
There's not much of a difference between the two, but the new iPhone 13 has a smaller selfie camera notch, higher maximum screen brightness, slightly improved camera hardware and software, and slightly better specs with a larger base storage capacity as well. as a larger 3240 mAh battery compared to the 2815 mAh capacity of the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 11 line has seen two notable price drops in as many years as it was replaced by newer iPhones. You can still buy Apple's standard model, and for good reason - it's still powerful and features huge improvements over its predecessors, including an ultra-wide camera and greatly improved night photography. (IPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are sold by carriers and retailers only.)
The standard iPhone 11 now costs € 499 / € 489 / AU € 849, which is € 200 / € 240 / AU € 350 below its introductory price, but expect discounts of more than 10% for Black Friday.
Note the differences between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 11. If you choose the latter, you will miss the flat-edged redesign that makes the phone have the same 6.1-inch screen in smaller dimensions, an OLED screen, MagSafe wireless charger and magnetic accessory mount, slightly better specs, and night mode on all three cameras (including selfie shooter). It is not a monumental difference, but it is important to consider what you are trading for value.

All the remaining iPhones are likely to get good discounts during Black Friday, including popular phones like the iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XR, and others. These are not Apple's most advanced phones, but they will continue to perform as great phones and should get deep discounts on Black Friday.
Just keep in mind that older iPhones may not have many years of software updates left. Apple generously listed the 6 iPhone 2016S as the oldest model with iOS 15, but we don't know if it will receive iOS 16 next year. It's unclear which phone Apple will set as the cutoff model, but we're reasonably confident that the iPhone 7 2017 and newer phones will get new versions of iOS in the coming years.
That said, if you want to be sure, go for the iPhone SE 2020 or iPhone XR for an affordable phone. Oddly enough, we still see the high prices for the iPhone XS and iPhone X, but everyone should get decent discounts for Black Friday. That leaves the iPhone 8 as the reliable middle of the road, which should be cut well, but if you want to perpetuate your choice of affordable Apple phone, we recommend the iPhone SE 2020.
