We tested: the Marvel Avengers are quite promising

Crystal Dynamics Marvel's highly anticipated Avengers were announced in January 2017, but only in 2019 did we get to see what the game actually looks like. The launch is scheduled for May 15, 2020, we at Jogazera had the opportunity to test a demo of the game at the Brasil Game Show 2019.

The demo is the same as featured in the video below, but the feel of the game is quite unique and it should be noted that Square Enix invests heavily in the title. Each hero has unique abilities and mechanics, but they all have a similar command base, which gives the game some motivation.

Thor is the first character to be controlled. Despite being one of the most powerful avengers on the team, I confess that I don't have the feeling of controlling a Norse god. The fight has reminded me a lot of the Batman Arkham system with a hint of God of War, because like Kratos and his leviathan ax, Thor can throw Mjölnir and hit enemies from a distance and then bring the hammer to his own. hit enemies along the way.

Then it's time to play the egocentric Iron Man. Initially, you have to control the hero in the search for an airstrip, where you can only dodge obstacles, control the target and shoot the flying enemies. After this session, the traditional game returns with a certain verticality, because unlike Thor, Iron Man can slip and face enemies above the ground.

The change may seem minimal, but it is enough to differentiate the gameplay experience and made me go for a different approach, keeping distances and taking out enemies with blasts of energy.

A few explosions later and the avenger of the time is the Hulk. One of the funniest parts of the demo is controlling the emerald giant with its movements and attacks that emanate from force and destruction. The destructive power of the character is very well demonstrated and he even feels sorry for the enemies that appear before.

The only strange thing about controlling the monster is that, when jumping, the character appears weightless, which makes the small scenes of the show a strange experience.

The action continues to appreciate Captain America. To be honest, Steve Rogers still looks like a Rainbow Six character, but during the game his appearance didn't bother me and the highlight was the captain's gesture and his Vibranium shield.

Much more agile than any of the other heroes featured so far, with Rogers it is possible to throw his shield and hit multiple enemies, while the captain continues to hit the poor villains who stand no chance.

And finally, the time has come to control Black Widow, the deadly assassin who is even more agile than Captain America and has weapons in his arsenal. Natasha Romanoff's role centers on a boss fight against the coach.

The fight is divided into several parts where you have to find openings to attack and then vary the movements, because one of the skills of the coach is to learn the movements of his opponents.

Interestingly, Marvel's Avengers reminded me of the Quantic Dream games. Obviously not because of the gameplay, but because of the cinematic flair that permeated the entire demo, as well as having some Quick Time events scattered in the middle of the action.

I dare say that the games campaign should also be drawn from this source, with several "episodes" that will give some heroes the upper hand, in the best cinematic style of Heavy Rain and Detroit.

It may be too early to find out, but it looks like the new Avengers game won't disappoint and promises to be a fun, action-packed game essential for any Marvel fan. they are comics or movies.

Marvel's Avengers arrives on May 15, 2020 and will include the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia versions.
