We may know everything about the Google Pixel 7a even before it's announced

The Google Pixel 7a may have been leaked outright, weeks before Google officially announced the phone.

Although the company has yet to confirm that it's working on a follow-up to the Google Pixel 6a and is continuing with its Pixel a line of phones - a cheaper and less technically impressive range than the flagship Google Pixel line - there are several signs to suggest it's on its way. runs on a Pixel 7a. The rumored phone's specifications were teased back in November last year, and more details and images leaked a few days ago.

Now, more leaks have surfaced, with one person claiming to have their hands on a Pixel 7a dev unit (via Zing News - opens in a new tab)). Based on these leaks, the device appears to be an amalgamation of the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7. The Pixel 7's iconic metal camera bar returns, but the cameras themselves are different, with the 50MP main camera replaced by a 12MP one. camera. The leaked phone also appears to have a 90-inch 6,1Hz display and lacks a headphone jack.

Most of these details match up with what others have claimed to be details of the device, except for the 12MP dual camera setup - previous leaks suggested we'd see the 50MP camera upgraded to a 64MP snapper, though it's true that that seemed unlikely; Budget phones generally don't outperform flagships of the same brand, especially their cameras.

more holey than a sieve

We should always take leaks with a grain of salt, and as convincing as the leaks here are, there's always the chance they're part of an elaborate hoax, but leaks of this nature are nothing new for the Google Pixel line of phones.

The Google Pixel 7 specs were leaked well before its release, and the Google Pixel 6a promo images gave us a great glimpse of the device's upcoming hardware and software before it hits shelves, too. Both the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 5 were marred by leaks, and the Google Pixel 4 was spotted before it could be announced as well.

As such, it wouldn't be surprising if this Google Pixel 7a leak turned out to be very real, it would certainly be normal. As always, we'll have to wait and see what Google reveals for the phone, with an announcement expected for Google I/O 2023 in May based on the timing of previous Pixel announcements.
