Virgin Mobile and Sky Mobile provide 10GB of data to phone customers for free

Virgin Mobile and Sky Mobile are offering their customers an additional 10 GB of data free of charge to help mitigate communication problems during the coronavirus epidemic. Starting March 23, all Virgin Mobile paying monthly customers will receive an additional 10 GB of data, as well as unlimited calls to landlines and mobile phones. Virgin said the offer is only applicable for one month, but said it may expand the program depending on how the coronavirus situation evolves. Sky Mobile customers will also receive an additional 10 GB of data, which will be added directly to their Sky Piggybank. Data can be shared between all SIM cards on the account. Sky has also made free calls to UK landlines for all Sky Talk customers, which should ease the financial constraints some people face.

This decision will come as a relief to many as more and more people are asked to work from home or remain in isolation during this period. Although most people are probably using their existing internet connection at home, the increase in data could be a boon for those in remote areas where broadband speeds tend to be much slower than 4G, which is more widely available.
