Vaio laptops are ready to return to India from January 15

With laptops being as big a thing as they are right now, the Vaio company is aiming to recapture a piece of that pie, announcing its return last year. And now the company has announced that the official launch of its latest generation of laptops will take place on January 15. About ten years ago, Vaio was Sony's PC arm, until it spun off into a separate brand in 2014. It was an early proponent of stylish laptops with an emphasis on design. and functionality. The split also gave rise to a new business model in which it relied on regional partnerships and facilities rather than a central hub. There is now a similar association for India. Hong Kong-based Nexstgo has acquired the license rights to manufacture, sell and market Vaio notebooks in India. Nextgo already serves many other Asian markets for Vaio with similar agreements in place for Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and other Middle Eastern markets. A teaser for the launch was posted on Flipkart last month. “We at Nexstgo are delighted to re-introduce Vaio to the Indian public with a wide range of high-quality notebooks in the next 3 months. The brand has already witnessed unparalleled demand from the Indian market, and we believe technology enthusiasts and up-and-coming young professionals across the country will be delighted to experience Vaio's premium solutions once again. With this launch, we aim to expand our distribution network in India and achieve phenomenal growth by 2020. We are honored to be Vaio's key partner and to work with Vaio to rebuild its brand position in India,” said Alex Chung. , CEO of Nextgo Company Limited. As for the product, the first laptop, based on AMD's Ryzen platform, will be launched in India in January. It will be a premium offering that will be “designed for the modern office”. Flipkart will be Vaio's return business partner. No other details were shared. Nexstgo has a similar license agreement with Singapore-based laptop startup Avita for India. Since Avita mainly plays in the budget segments, we can expect Vaio to focus on the premium segment with high-end machines. It remains to be seen how well it performs in the competitive Indian market, where several new players like Xiaomi and Honor have found success recently.
