Thor: Love and Thunder sets photos revealing how Jane Foster will become Thor

Here are possible spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder. Production on Thor: Love and Thunder is booming in Australia, and a new batch of leaked images and footage apparently shows how Jane Foster will acquire her Goddess of Thunder powers. The video in question, which you can see below, was uploaded to Natalie Portman's Twitter fan account and later picked up by other outlets. The footage appears to show Portman, who reprises his role as Foster in the sequel, floating in the air on top of a small blue crane. It's unclear exactly what's going on, but if we had to guess, she has something to do with Foster's acquisition of Thor's powers. There are potential spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder as of now, so proceed at your own risk. If you're still here, you can take a look at the images below:

Well, it seems that she will have something to do with Mjolnir and Odin. In leaked photos from the Love and Thunder set, which you can see in the tweet below (h/t ComicBook.com), it appears that a monument has been made in honor of Odin and Thor's destroyed hammer. The Asgardians, who made their home on Earth after the events of Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame, appear to have built a monument to their late leader. Not only that, but a pedestal was also erected on Mjolnir, which Hela broke in Ragnarok. Check out the leaked images below:

What are these leaks making fun of about Thor: Love and Thunder?

We know that Thor: Love and Thunder is inspired by Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor comic series, which saw Foster pick up Mjolnir after Odinson was deemed unworthy. Director Taiki Waititi has confirmed that this was the inspiration for the film at Comic-Con 2019 (via Deadline), but what we don't know is how he'll get his abilities in the MCU. Judging by the leaked video and images, we can assume that Odin's memorial will have something to say. Foster surely visits this place for a good reason: perhaps there's a surge similar to Thor's arrival through the Bifrost, drawing him to New Asgard. Odin's own power may still be there, as it is his resting place, and along with the nearby shards of Mjolnir, the two factors could collide and imbue Foster with godlike powers. Alternatively, Foster's journey could be very similar to the comic book story The Mighty Thor. Still, while he can seek out Mjolnir and seize the weapon's power, Foster's new abilities aren't a blessing. The God of Thunder's ex-girlfriend is diagnosed with breast cancer before acquiring Thor's hammer. In doing so, Mjolnir purges him of all toxins, including the chemotherapy treatment she is receiving in an attempt to stop the spread of her cancer, causing her condition to deteriorate. If this rather serious story continues in Love and Thunder, Foster may seek Thor's help with his diagnosis, which could lead here. However, we are only speculating, and we have some time to wait for the truth to emerge. Thor: Love and Thunder won't arrive until May 6, 2022, so the guesswork will continue for some time.
