This smart mirror will have all the answers, just like your music.

If you've ever listened to music while getting ready for work, you might enjoy ICON.AI's new SOUND MIRROR, which was announced this week at CES XNUMX, where it won an Innovation Award.

As its name suggests, SOUND MIRROR is a full-size bathroom mirror and smart speaker, or as ICON.AI calls it, an "acoustic mirror." Free in the shape of a circle or horseshoe, it resembles a traditional large mirror, plus what appears to be a speaker grill that occupies the bottom quarter of the mirror face.

While most installations put this grille on the base, SOUND MIRROR can be installed with it in a vertical configuration.

SOUND MIRROR is developed to be hands free. It connects to your family Wi-Fi network and uses Alexa Voice services to request music from your favorite streaming services (assuming you have a subscription), access podcasts, ask for news, weather, or set alarms. You can also use it to monitor other smart devices in your home. This might be a good time to install two smart lights on either side of your bathroom mirror.

The mirror is also Bluetooth enabled, allowing you to stream music directly from your phone to the device.

You don't have to worry about all those tricky circuits in your wet and humid bathroom. The SOUND MIRROR is IPX6 rated, making it virtually waterproof.

ICON.AI is not the first company to merge specula with AI. A few years ago at CES XNUMX, Kohler showed off a line of smart bathroom products that included its Verdera Voice Lighted mirror. He lets you use Alexa to monitor mirror lights and other smart devices around the house. ICON.AI may have missed an occasion, not including the lights on its mirror.

Coming in 4 different finishes (gold, chrome, matte black and matte white), SOUND MIRROR continues the growing trend of technology that either resembles or integrates with home furnishings (see OLED gallery that resembles paintings, TVs suspended from shelves and chairs with load bearings or integrated loudspeakers). The idea is that the technology can blend in with the background. The voice-activated smart mirror can also be hung in your living room, study, or in a hotel or restaurant.

When it comes to sound quality, ICON.AI promises "high-quality, powerful sound" but doesn't offer details on drivers, tweeters, or subwoofers.

SOUND MIRROR is one of many great innovations to come from the annual CES tech show, as well as considerably more originals to be introduced either before or during the event, and we'll bring you any and all great gadgets you need. to know.
