MSI Modern 14 Laptop - €1,461.79 at XoticPC (pre-order)

The Modern 14 isn't far from the new MacBook Pro 13, and it's certainly much nicer with bag chains. It's only available for pre-order at the moment, but with a dedicated graphics card, 2TB SSD, and Windows 10 Pro, this MSI machine may be worth considering. Well, at least to some extent, because Apple hardware is often customized and made-to-order. For example, it appears that the Intel 1068NG7 processor in the MacBook Pro is exclusive to Apple. It's based on a latest 10nm manufacturing process, at the highest base frequency of any Intel mobile processor, and an Iris Plus graphics processor that can drive 4K content at 120Hz. However, if you're not quite ready to shell out for the Apple device, you might find yourself happy with the MSI Modern 14. MSI isn't a household name, but it's been around for over 20 years and is well known for its motherboards and laptops. for gaming. The Modern 14, however, is a business laptop and is currently available for pre-order.

At $1,461.79 (around $1,200 / AU$2,250), it's less than half the price of the Apple device (which has a suggested retail price of $2,999) and benefits from a comparable setup. The processor is a slower Intel Core i7-10510U, but you do get a dedicated graphics card: the Nvidia Geforce MX330 with 2GB of GDDR5. The machine also packs a 2TB XPC M.2 NVMe SSD and Windows 10 Pro, to highlight its professional credentials. Have you found a better deal? The MacBook Pro is heavier, has a higher resolution, and a smaller screen (which means better pixel density). Its memory is also almost 50% faster and it has a much larger battery (58Whr vs. 50Whr). The MSI Modern 14 doesn't compete with Apple's newest device, but it's not far behind and could be a great option for anyone after a high-performance business laptop.
