This magnificent game in the style of Dark Souls is a real advancement of the next generation.

Black Myth: Wu Kong is a recently announced Dark Souls-style game scheduled for PC and consoles. Seriously, take a look at the gameplay footage in the trailer above - it looks amazing. Black Myth: Wu Kong uses Unreal Engine 4 for its impressive graphics and is developed by Chinese studio Game Science, which includes former Tencent employees. The game is based on the "Journey to the West" mythology and you play as the King of Apes with access to 72 different abilities. Although there is an official website, Google's automatic Chinese translation is complicated at best. Thankfully, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad took to Twitter to chat a bit about the game, offering some useful insight into the project and the team behind it.

Here's a look at Black Myth: Wu Kong, a new action-adventure/Single-player RPG game developed by Chinese indie studio Game Science Studio. It is based on the mythology of Journey to the West. The game is expected to be released for PC and consoles and will use UE4. No release date. pic.twitter.com/44GXAyqZA7 Aug 20, 2020 “Planning and development started over 2 years ago. Initially with 13 developers in the first year and up to 30 this year,” Ahmad says in another tweet, “They played games like God of War, Monster Hunter World and Sekiro during development, learning from each title."

Not coming out soon

Starting off with an impressive 13 minutes of gameplay is one way to make an impression and Black Myth: Wu Kong certainly pulls it off. If you're familiar with the extremely satisfying combat from games like Sekiro or Bloodborne, you're probably just as excited as we are. And even if you've never dabbled in these games, you have to admit that it looks pretty amazing technically. There is no concrete release date for Black Myth: Wu Kong at this time. According to Ahmed's Twitter thread, Game Science Studio said that the game "is still far from complete and the focus now is to refine what they have been able to present through a complete game worth the asking price." . Still, going by the trailer alone, Black Myth: Wu Kong looks like it's worth the wait.
