This home server is pure Raspberry Pi

A manufacturer designed a 3D-printed Raspberry Pi server rack that could hold more than a dozen single-board computers (SBCs) and provide serious computing. Our friends at Tom's Hardware stumbled upon the server, which can host up to 14 Raspberry Pis, each with the official Raspberry Pi Power over Ethernet (PoE) HAT, as well as 14 2,5-inch SATA SSDs connected to the Raspberry Pi via via a USB 3.0 to SATA adapter. The Raspberry Pi Mark III server is designed by Ivan Kuleshov and, as his name suggests, is the third design iteration of the server.

Customizable server rack

Speaking to TechRadar Pro, Kuleshov said he built the first iteration of the server six months ago, when he and his colleagues were looking for a server to run TeamCity's build management and continuous integration server. . He found a design on Thingiverse and adapted it as necessary to create the Mark I that can hold eight Raspberry Pis with a 512GB SSD. The Mark III is the result of further design improvements. It can now hold 14 Raspberry Pis in 2-rack modular units, as well as five 80mm side fans for cooling. Despite its size, Kuleshov says the Mark III has fewer parts and therefore prints faster and also uses less filament. We don't know how Ikoula and Mythic Beasts combine Raspberry Pis for their SBC-powered web hosting solutions, but we think this design would make life much easier for those looking for a similar setup.
