PDF Free, Ashampoo's free PDF viewer, has received a major update with the release of version 3.0.5.

The updated software contains an impressive number of enhancements and new features designed to streamline PDF viewing and creation, with a particular focus on creating a more intuitive and comfortable user experience.

Even better, the free PDF reader now runs on the same technology as Ashampoo's premium PDF Pro 3, which should make it a more efficient tool and faster workflows overall.

What's new in Ashampoo PDF Free 3.0.5?

Along with a major overhaul under the hood, PDF Free 3.0.5 also introduces a number of features and quality of life improvements across the board.

Most notable is the new ribbon-based user interface, described by the company as "practical and elegant," meaning that comparisons to the Microsoft 365 design are now hard to ignore.

Of course, in previous versions, the outdated interface could feel cluttered, while the new PDF reader for Windows is cleaner and more modern, making it easier to navigate. Dark mode has also been added.

For added efficiency, the new PDF Viewer Quick Access Toolbar allows users to quickly switch between working modes. Size and zoom have also been improved. Users will now find a button to resize icons in the app and a built-in document zoom right in the status bar.

Elsewhere, file merging and rendering of scanned and black-and-white images has been improved, along with better load times for more complex documents.

Also released were 45 other general fixes for the software, including improved translations, better handling of fonts and images, and increased reliability when opening certain files or elements on a document page.

For users who want to take advantage of the latest updates, PDF Free 3.0.5 is available for download now from Ashampoo (Opens in a new tab).
