The LG 65SM8100 is on sale now, for a fraction of its original price, thanks to Amazon Prime Day 2020. This LCD TV is now selling for just $556.99, which is a surprisingly good price for what's on offer. While you can find the 65SM8100 for a few prices around the web, sometimes for more than double that great price, the closest we could find is $869 at Best Buy, so it seems like a bargain regardless. (Not in the US? Check out deals in your area at the bottom of this article.) This 4-inch 65K TV doesn't have all the bells and whistles of LG OLED TVs like the LG CX, but it doesn't have a low-spec model either. The LG 65SM8100 uses a locally dimmed backlight that should provide relatively constant brightness, compared to the edge lighting used by cheaper (and worse) LCD TVs. OLED TVs are self-emissive, of course, which means that individual pixels emit their own light, but for that price the backlight is still pretty good. This isn't a set we reviewed, but LG has a good reputation for sets of all sorts of gauges, even LCD screens. You'll get 4K resolution, HDR support, wide-viewing-angle technology (for off-axis viewing), and an "ultra-thin Nano bezel" for a big screen. Let's also not forget LG's webOS smart TV platform, which is one of the best on the market, with sleek, well-organized app icons and an excellent universal search feature.
