Zoom is low - here's what you need to know

Update: Zoom has now identified the issue that prevents users from starting or joining Zoom meetings and webinars. The company is working on a fix, but has not provided an estimated timeline. Original story: Customers in the UK, US and other territories are unable to connect to Zoom's video conferencing and webinar services due to a general outage. The outage began around 8:00 a.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. BST, according to service tracking site DownDetector, just as many employees prepared to log on for morning and post-lunch meetings. More than 16.000 complaints have been logged on the site in the last two hours and many more keep coming, suggesting that a solution has yet to be delivered.

Zoom out

Zoom has acknowledged the service outage and claims to be investigating the issue. “We have received reports of users being unable to visit the Zoom website (zoom.us) and unable to start or join Zoom meetings and webinars. We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them,” the Zoom Status Dashboard states. In some cases, users are also reporting a strange error message suggesting that their account no longer exists, which Zoom also blamed for the outage. Other disgruntled users have taken to Twitter to express their discontent. "First day of school for tons of schools, and @zoom_us seems to be down," one individual complained. “Seeing @zoom_us collapse today is important… My 5 kids were affected and couldn't attend online school today (sic),” another said. All other Zoom services, including phone, chat, web client, and web portal, are expected to be fully operational. The cause of the Zoom failure is still unclear, and the company did not immediately respond to our request for comment. This story will be updated as more details emerge.
