The Xiaomi Mi Watch will not visit Europe this year

If you're a fan of smartwatches, the Xiaomi Mi Watch may have caught your eye when it was revealed earlier this week. However, it was only launched in China and Xiaomi confirmed that it will no longer be available in Europe in the coming months.

This news comes directly from Abi Go, Xiaomi Global Product Marketing Manager, who told LaComparacion that the watch "will not be available in Europe this year."

This is tough news for anyone who has been intrigued by the Wear OS wearing watch with Xiaomi's own interface. The hardware looks a lot like an Apple Watch, but with all the benefits of Google's Wear OS.

This won't necessarily stay off your wrists, as we could see a global launch in 2020. In a separate meeting attended by TechRadar, Mr. Go said: "We continually strive to bring China's products abroad. .. we must also consider certifications and other local regulations."

Xiaomi's global expansion

A smartwatch generally has many health-related features such as heart rate monitoring, step counting, sleep monitoring, and more.

Over the past year, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Mix Alpha with 180% screen-to-screen ratio, a two-hinge folding phone, the Mi Note 10 with a gigantic 108MPa camera, and a host of other affordable phones.

While the Mi Note 10 is expected to be available in Europe, the Mi Mix Alpha and Mi Watch seem exclusive to China at the moment.
