Umbrella Academy season 3 is set to release on Netflix later this year, and it looks like we won't be prepared for the amount of angst it will contain.
Posting a new storyboard image to his Instagram account on January 12, showrunner Steve Blackman sent fans into a frenzy about what would actually happen in The Umbrella Academy season 3. And, since the image shows Allison Hargreeves, one of the group's superpowered beings, crying and looking desperate, it sounds like the next entry in the hit Netflix show could be quite an emotional one.

Of course, it's hard to pin down who or what upset Allison in this particular scene. But fans of The Umbrella Academy are clearly concerned, with many responses to Blackman's post saying "Noooo Allison" and "It must have something to do with Claire," meaning Claire is Allison's estranged daughter.
With the release of The Umbrella Academy Season 3 on Netflix this year, the marketing has started to heat up on Netflix's most popular superhero/fantasy TV series. Earlier this year, character posters for The Sparrow Academy, a group of superheroes with seemingly similar powers to the Hargreeves brothers, but who exist in a different universe, were posted online.
The sheets alone don't provide much information about these mysterious characters, but we suspect they will be competing with The Umbrella Academy for the attention of their father, aka Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
Hopefully, it won't be long before we find out why Allison is so upset in the series' latest piece of concept art. Umbrella Academy season 3 does not yet have an official release date. But, with the series' marketing campaign slowly starting to tease what's to come, we're sure a trailer and release date aren't too far off.

Analysis: Is The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Release Date Announcement Coming Soon?

(Image credit: Netflix)It's hard to say. We know it's coming in 2022, and with the release of The Sparrow Academy posters and this image of Blackman's storyboard, fans may think the release date announcement will be here sooner rather than later.
But we don't expect The Umbrella Academy season 3 release date or a trailer to come anytime soon. Netflix has been known to keep a close eye on the release dates of all of its movies and TV shows, so much so that the streaming giant usually puts them online without bringing up their arrival.
A perfect example of this marketing strategy is Ozark season 4, which is set to release on Netflix on January 21st, but didn't receive its first teaser until mid-December. An official trailer for Ozark season 4 wasn't released until January 7, proving once again that Netflix likes to keep audiences waiting (and speculating) on when their favorite shows will return.
So The Umbrella Academy season 3 will definitely be treated in the same way. We're expecting an official release date and trailer to be released soon, but we're not holding our breath. For now, we'll just have to pay attention to any little sneak peeks or news that comes our way and pray to the 'brelly' gods that we finally get a glimpse of the third season of the show in the near future.
