The two new Xiaomi mobiles could include our future favorite cheap phone

The annual MWC 2022 tech event is happening right now and it's become a hive of impressive budget smartphone launches, with five new TCL handsets, three new Nokia handsets and now two Xiaomi handsets.

These are the Poco X4 Pro 5G and the Poco M4 Pro, from Xiaomi's Pocophone sub-brand. Both are phones with impressive specs, and since they are Poco devices, we expect them to launch at fairly low prices.

We'll start with the pricing: the X4 Pro 5G starts at €299 (around £460, £250, AU$460) while the M4 Pro starts at €219 (around £250, £180, AU$340). There are also higher performance versions for more, but these are the starting prices.

We're really impressed with how the Poco X4 Pro 5G looks – its display, camera and battery specs all sound amazing for a budget phone.

However, its chipset could be its weak point - we haven't tested it on enough phones to really be able to say if it's good or not, but we've been disappointed by Snapdragon 600-series processors before.

The Poco M4 Pro looks more like a standard Chinese budget phone, with some weak spots, but with specs that stand out against many rivals (33W charging, for example, is good for a budget phone).

And since the M4 Pro costs less, it could be a very tempting option for people on a budget.

Once these devices are on sale worldwide, we'll bring you all the important information about them, including our hands-on impressions.
