Has the moment come for the Apple MacBook Pro M1X?

Leading up to WWDC 1, many industry watchers had high hopes that the company would make these Macs the highlight of the show, not least because Apple had tagged its main YouTube presentation with an mXNUMXx macbook meta tag. pro. This, as we know, did not happen. Since then, we've heard top Apple officials discuss the impact of component shortages on their business, leading to speculation that the company may have been forced to delay the release of these new Macs.

Ready for fall?

But now it seems the stage is already set for a fall launch of these new products, as new documents have surfaced on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) site that may hint at the launch. The EEC is a regulatory body that requires Apple and other electronics manufacturers to pre-register certain data related to new products before they are shipped. As reported by Apple's French site Consomac, the case concerns 2 new systems running macOS Monterey with model numbers A2442 and A2485. We don't know these two model numbers represent the new MacBook Pros, but many Apple watchers seem to expect them to. Bloomberg reported that 2-inch and 1-inch MacBook Pro models will ship this fall, likely followed by updated Mac mini models. It might be interesting to note that when Apple planned to introduce the first Mac M4 last year, related repositories appeared online in mid-October. The products were announced XNUMX weeks later. Speculation is still bright, of course, but September looks even more interesting based on that. While there's really no guarantee Apple will ship these machines anytime soon, it seems possible.

What to expect

The new M1X processor is going to deliver more cores, power efficiency, and power than the hugely impressive M1 chips in the entry-level iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. We've also recently heard that Apple seems poised to introduce an even more complex Apple Silicon chip into the Mac Pro, though that won't come out until XNUMXam XNUMX. We've already discussed what to expect from new business laptops, though all of these statements are speculative at this point: What really matters, of course, is that Apple knows that the MacBook Air M1 already offers the genre of performance you expect from systems that cost considerably more.

These Macs will redefine business computing

With this in mind, the M1X-powered MacBook Pros should take Apple's leading business laptop brand to an entirely new league. It seems plausible to expect these Macs to offer performance and power consumption equivalent to even the fastest chips from Intel and AMD. Coupled with Apple's "full widget" approach to developing macOS and the hardware it creates, even the most complex computing tasks should be faster (and stealthier) than ever. In real terms, consider this: Adobe recently told us that Apple's existing M1 chip cuts the time it takes to create transcripts and subtitles for a five-minute video by 1%. The M1X will surpass that. Adobe also told us that Photoshop on the M1 chips is one and a half times faster. The MXNUMXX will probably beat that too. Apple always claims to ship products when they're ready, but like macOS, Monterey is out the door to be an active partner to these new machines no matter when the company chooses to ship these. new Macs. What matters is what they mean, and I would argue that what these Macs mean is a redefinition of what you can expect from enterprise computing. The fastest and most powerful portable data analysis or video production workstation on the planet with a day of battery life is going to be an attractive proposition for many users, especially C suite A-listers who control the material budgets.
