The Sandman and Stranger Things 4 lead Netflix's geek week

Netflix has released a catchy trailer for its 2022 edition of Geeked Week, and there's a lot to get excited about.

The two-minute trailer showcases a host of announcements, trailer reveals, and more during Netflix's Geeked Week, which runs from June 6-10. The long-awaited live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman headlines the event's many lineup announcements, with the Geeked Week trailer even giving us our first look at Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer.

Check out the trailer for Netflix Geeked Week 2022 below:

The Sandman won't be the only Netflix series showing at Netflix Geeked Week. The streaming giant also promised to provide updates on Stranger Things season 4, with season 2 part 4 likely to drop largely during the week. Season 1 of Stranger Things, part 27, will be released on Netflix right now or Geeked Week will be released – it will be released on May 2 – nous pouvons donc nous attendre à un tease (ou cinq) pour le volume 1 avant son arrivée le XNUMXer July.

Meanwhile, other notable Netflix shows including Shadow and Bone, Sweet Tooth, Arcane, and The Umbrella Academy will be getting updates ahead of their next installments. Expect plenty of first looks at new series, like vampire romantic drama First Kill, sci-fi horror series Resident Evil, and fantasy show The School for Good and Evil.

On the Netflix movies front, the streamer promises to show us more about its upcoming movie slate. The Gray Man (starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling), Spiderhead, directed by Chris Hemsworth, and the animated The Sea Beast top the streamer's list of movies before summer (or winter, for those in the southern hemisphere).

Finally, Netflix plans to reveal more about its expansion into video games. There were no reveals as part of the Geeked Week trailer, but we can expect some news (maybe an announcement or two?) on what Netflix's gaming division is working on. Color us intrigued.

Netflix Geeked Week begins on Monday, June 6 and runs through Friday, June 10. Keep an eye out for our official guide on how to stay on top of each announcement in the coming weeks.

Analysis: Netflix needs a win(*4*)

Eleven screams while activating her powers in Stranger Things Season 4

Netflix Geeked Week may come at just the right time for the streaming giant. It has been the subject of a series of negative headlines in recent weeks amid subscriber backlash to the crackdown on password sharing, the cancellation of several programs, staff layoffs, the arrival of ads, and a sharp drop in price. of the company's shares.

With Netflix forecasting that it will lose another two million subscribers in the second quarter of this year, the streamer needs a big win. The return of Stranger Things, one of Netflix's biggest hits, is likely to help it win back the support of fans and critics alike. However, Netflix must also prove that it has a list of movies, TV shows and games that subscribers won't want to miss.

Your Geeked Week event therefore represents an opportunity to do so. If Netflix can convince subscribers (those still signed up and those who recently canceled) that it can deliver on the premium movies and TV front, it may be able to turn this recent bad press into something more positive.

We suspect that some of Netflix's upcoming offerings won't persuade potential subscribers to sign up for the service. But, if the likes of The Sandman, Stranger Things 4, The Gray Man, Spiderhead, and Resident Evil assure Netflix's global audiences that it's still the place to go for all things streaming, Geeked Week will have done its job. .

That's a lot of pressure to host an event that's only in its second year, but Netflix could use a big win to alleviate some of the negativity surrounding it right now, and Geeked Week could be the tonic.
