The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus looks too much like the iPhone for me

I'm currently testing the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, the big new phone on the block, and while all of my thoughts on the phone can be found in my full review (coming soon), there's something I needed to share about the phone now.

It's the way the phone feels, and I don't mean vaguely fancy or sentimental, I mean the actual feel of the phone. The way it fits in the palm of my hand.

You see, after starting the curved screen trend a few years ago, Samsung abandoned the concept and now the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus have flat screens (luckily the S22 Ultra doesn't).

But the frame of the device is almost flat: it looks a lot like an iPhone 13 in that way, although it is true that the edge has a slight roundness. Do you know what other phone he was using recently that he hated the feeling too? The iPhone 13 Pro.

The iPhone problem

I really, really can't like the way the iPhone 13 Pro fits in my hand. The flat edges dig deeper and deeper into my palm with every touch of the screen (yes, I have soft hands) and aren't a joy to hold.

This is a far cry from the experience of using phones with curved screens, as this feature gives the phone a rounded, pebble-like, and smooth feel. Before the Plus I used the Ultra and it was nice to hold.

Even some phones with flat screens have rounded edges, making them easy to hold. I just tried the Realme 9 Pro Plus and it was great.

That's not the case with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus or the iPhone 13 Pro: I don't like holding them and that makes using them a lot less fun.

Maybe you should try smaller family phones like the Galaxy S22 or iPhone 13 mini, but why bother? There are plenty of Androids out there that feel great in the hand, and the hours I spend playing games or numbing my mind on Instagram will be so much more enjoyable on them.
