The PS5 gets its first confirmed game: could it be the Demon's Souls remaster?

The PS5 finally has a release window ("Holiday 2020"), and now has its first game confirmed as well.

Bluepoint Games has built a reputation for creating outstanding remasters of classic games. It worked in Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and its perfect rebuild of Shadow of the Colossus for PS4.

And now he's focusing on the PlayStation 5 as he reveals new details about the next-gen console straight from Sony.

But what could it be?

Are souls reborn?

"We're working on a big project right now and I'll let you figure out the rest," Bluepoint Games president Thrush said in an interview with Wired. This is most likely a new IP address, but Bluepoint states in its GDC 2019 submission that its next match would be a "redefinition" that would exceed even the magnitude of Shadow of the Colossus, and it's pretty unlikely.

So what could it rebuild in its own way for new generation machines?

The video game buzz has been alive recently, claiming that Demon's Souls, the PS3 title that launched the Souls series, which includes classics like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, could be Bluepoint's target.

Among the loosely connected franchises, it is the one that owns the intellectual property, along with the others that belong to Bandai Namco. Even Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki said he would give a new version his blessing, as long as the studio "does the right thing" to take over. As for remakes, there are few studios more capable than Bluepoint and few games worth rewatching like Demon's Souls.
