New Xbox Series X update makes things a little more next-gen
If you felt like the Xbox Series X didn't feel next-gen enough due to its overly familiar user interface, you'll be happy to hear that Microsoft has released a new update that makes things a little cooler... somehow. As part of the November 2020 Xbox Console Update, which is now rolling out, Microsoft has added six new dynamic backgrounds that give you more customization options and look really cool right out of the box. There are beautiful tributes to older systems like the Xbox 360, and the backgrounds will change depending on the theme color chosen. It's worth noting that dynamic backgrounds only work on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S; you won't find the option on Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.

Just press the guide button and a small ``Auto HDR'' logo will appear below the clock if a game supports the feature. If you're having trouble determining which games are optimized for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the November update will make it clearer which games take advantage of the increased system performance. You will now see that games will include an "X/S" badge under My Games & Apps in the Games and Full Library views. Here's how to tell if a game is optimized for Xbox Series X. A new addition to the guide is the Game Activity tab, which gives you easy access to achievements for the game you're playing, joining friends who are playing to the game itself and get information about the events of the game, all from the guide. The last two key changes in the November 2020 Update are the ability to add family member accounts during setup, so you can manage who can play what in advance and you can also pre-install some "coming soon" games on Xbox Game.
