Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Fold 2 launch is still scheduled

The current global coronavirus pandemic has halted product development and update cycles for almost all manufacturers. With expected delays all around, Samsung may still be on its way to preparing its next flagships on time. Among many other products, the Galaxy Note 20 and Fold 2 are Samsung's biggest smartphones this year and should be in their advanced stages of development. Although a delay is not surprising, a report in the Korea Herald indicates that Samsung could stick to its schedule and announce the products in August. Samsung has apparently started planning its next Unboxed launch event with some teams already in the office. However, they proceed with caution. An insider confirmed that the preparations for the upcoming Galaxy Note launch are underway without delay, but the nature of the event is not finalized yet. "Regarding a physical event, things have not been discussed yet, we are considering measures such as an online event." For context, Apple already plans to delay the launch of the iPhone 12 series from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of this year, because the United States is one of the hardest-hit countries in the world. Previous rumors also suggested that some employees were allowed to use early models of the following devices to continue working on them. Even the upcoming Google Pixel 4a could go off the rails.

Big announcements in progress

Leaks on upcoming Samsung flagships are currently rare, but the Note 20 is expected to bring a smarter stylus, larger screen, and internal improvements and cameras. Some reports even suggest that the Note 20 will also successfully implement a secondary display front camera, making it one of the first consumer devices to do so. The Galaxy Fold 2 will bring many refinements to a design that Samsung has practically innovated. It should be noted that even if Samsung is able to meet its launch schedule, deliveries could be delayed as most logistics services have been suspended. It is not clear when the global lockdown will end, at least some countries will have shipping delays.
