Latest 5TB PS2 Rumor Probably Fake - Here's Why
Every week there is a new PS5 price or release date 'leak' and despite what the titles may say, they are almost always wrong. That's because that information hasn't been widely disclosed yet; all everyone has now is what Sony told them. We've seen "retailer leaks" on the PS5 before, on multiple occasions, that we were able to debunk as nonsense. Now here's another one. Spotted by GamePro, German retailer Otto.de briefly listed a 2TB PS Digital Edition on its website, priced high at €974,79 (about €870 / £1,150 / AU$1,600), before completely remove the list. But we think a 5TB PS2 All-Digital Edition would be a bit of a stretch. Especially since Sony has already confirmed the specs for the PS5, citing that the PS5's SSD is 825GB, and the PS5 Digital Edition offers the same specs as its standard alternative. So it wouldn't make much sense for another SKU to exist before launch.

However, 825GB for the PS5 seems to be a bit tight considering the size of upcoming PS5 games. But it's more likely that Sony will use the expandable storage of the PS5 rather than upgrade the hardware so close to launch, especially since this huge increase in storage will certainly drive up the price, which Sony will want to avoid. Not to mention the price

(Image credit: Giuseppe Spinelli) Although Sony had hidden a 5TB digital PS2 up its sleeve, another indication that this listing isn't legit is the price itself. Sony has yet to confirm the price of the PS5 or PS5 Digital, and analysts are predicting that the standard console will cost around €499, with the digital version being slightly cheaper. So a 2TB version of the PS5 Digital priced at twice the expected price of the standard PS5 is ridiculous and extremely unlikely. As we mentioned above, we've seen plenty of PS5 retailer listings before that were easy to debunk; most of them act as fictitious prices instead of legitimate leaks. Until we get prices out of the horse's mouth (the horse is Sony), it's best to treat any PS5 price leaks with proper speculation. We anticipate that it won't be long before the company reveals pricing and opens up pre-orders, though PS5 pre-orders are extremely limited.
