The iPhone 14 Max could have a surprisingly good screen

It is rumored that next year Apple will launch a 14-inch iPhone 14 Max instead of an iPhone 14 mini. Essentially, it would be a big-screen iPhone without the "Pro" credentials, but in some ways it could be surprisingly close to the iPhone XNUMX Pro Max.

According to The Elec, Apple has yet to decide whether to equip the iPhone 14 Max with a XNUMXHz or XNUMXHz screen. The former is what we expected; after all, only the Pro models of the iPhone line. thirteen have XNUMX Hz displays and by dividing them, phones make it easy to distinguish the cheapest models from the most expensive ones.

Furthermore, it was particularly stated that the standard iPhone 14 would have a 60Hz display, so it would make sense that the iPhone 14 Max would do so as well, but it may not be this way.

Elec asserts that while the standard iPhone 14 will have a 60Hz screen, and the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will have 120Hz screens, the iPhone 14 Max could go both ways.

Apple is supposedly going to take a resolution based on the cost of the screen offered by LG Display and BOE, 2 of the companies from which it obtains screens today. If LG can build an OLED display with a variable 120Hz refresh rate, and if the cost is right, then Apple will probably support it. If not, you will most likely opt for a BOE 60Hz display.

The big name that is not in the mix here is Samsung Display, which up to now has been the only distributor of 120Hz displays for Apple, since it is the only company capable of generating them en masse using LTPO technology (required for the frequency variable update).

However, The Elec asserts that LG Display will surely be able to do it from next year, so Apple is supposedly waiting to see if it works, and see how much LG Display charges.

Samsung is supposedly not an option for the iPhone 14 Max display, as Apple does not want to rely too heavily on one manufacturer. So it's supposedly LG and 120Hz or BOE and 60Hz.

Analysis: we would continue betting on 60Hz

While this is a promising new one for the iPhone 14 Max, we hesitate to see Apple occasionally equip it with a 120Hz display.

If this ratio is adequate, then the technology and the cost have to be suitable in order for Apple to opt for a 120Hz option, and it seems that today there is some insecurity around the two.

But other than that, a 60Hz screen makes more sense assuming the standard iPhone 14 is going to have a 60Hz screen.

On the other hand, with Apple rumored to completely change the design of the Pro models, the best phones should have no problem standing out even though you can get a 120Hz display on a more affordable iPhone, making an iPhone 14 Max 120Hz. - and even a 14 Hz iPhone XNUMX - it is indeed possible.
